Snodgrass Memorial Research Award

Eligibility
Candidates must have completed a graduate research thesis or dissertation in either arthropod morphology, systematics, taxonomy, or evolution at a recognized college or university within two calendar years previous to the due date of his/her application. The applicant must be a member of the Entomological Society of America (ESA). On request, an application may remain active for two years, if otherwise eligible and requested by the student. This award consists of a certificate and a cash award, the amount based on the earnings from the investment.

Award Procedures
Applications/nominations must be accompanied by supporting data, arranged in the following format:

   1.   Letter of nomination

   2.   A letter of application describing eligibility credentials

   3.   Excerpts from the student's research thesis or dissertation, along 
         with the approval page signed by a college official or advisor (submit
         approval page if available)

   4.   Confidential letters of recommendation from two faculty members 
         who can comment critically on the thesis or dissertation

Deadline
Application/nomination packages must be received by the Entomological Foundation Headquarters by July 1.

Renomination
Any candidate nominated, but not selected, may be renominated no more than two times within the two-year period after his/her initial submission. Application/nomination packages will be retained for two years by the Entomological Foundation Headquarters. Nominators must send a letter of renomination to melodie@entfdn.org by the award deadline above. Previously submitted documentation will be used for the evaluation process unless the nominator submits new or updated documents. The renomination e-mail must contain this additional documentation. New or updated documents must follow the electronic submission requirements.

Notification
The Entomological Foundation Headquarters will notify all candidates and their nominators, where applicable, with the results of their application.
