The Nancy E. Beckage Scholarship
In honor of Dr. Nancy Beckage’s outstanding contributions and service to the field of entomology and her devotion to her students, a scholarship is being created to assist women in pursuing a career as a biologist who emphasizes research in the study of insect physiology or immunology. The Nancy E. Beckage Scholarship for Women in Entomology is an investment in our nation’s future scientists and is designed to encourage student interest in pursuing a career in research that emphasizes insect science.
- Increase the opportunities for women to pursue a career as a biologist who emphasizes research in the study of insect physiology or immunology.
Student Application Process and Procedures:
The scholarship shall be made by the Entomological Foundation on the basis of recognizing and encouraging graduate education in the area of entomology with a specific focus on physiology or immunology. The amount of the scholarship will be determined by the interest earned from the endowment. If the student is not a current member of the Entomological Society of America (ESA), the award will include one-year free membership into ESA at the time the award is presented. The scholarship winner will be presented with the scholarship at the Entomological Foundation’s awards ceremony held in conjunction with the ESA’s annual meeting.
Scholarships and fellowships make the difference in whether a student not only attends college, but also remains in college. Through the Nancy E. Beckage Scholarship for Women in Entomology, the Entomological Foundation will assist students in attending college and reaching their goal of one day working in the field of entomology.
