Larry Cutkomp
In memory of Dr. Larry Cutkomp, a donation was made by Edward (Ted) Radcliffe. Dr. Cutkomp was born in 1916 in Wapello, IA. After graduation in 1936 from Iowa Wesleyan in Mt. Pleasant, IA, he received his Ph.D. in entomology from Cornell University. He worked on mosquito control for the Tennessee Valley Authority in the 1940s. Dr. Cutkomp was a professor of Entomology at the University of Minnesota where he conducted research and taught graduate students for nearly 40 years. His specialty was economic entomology (injurious and beneficial insects). He moved to St. Paul in 1947 and lived in St. Anthony Park for over 50 years. Later in his career, he worked on sterilization of fruit flies for two years with the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, Austria. As an entomologist his work on insect control took him around the world to many places including Egypt, Tanzania, India, China, Italy, Poland, and Costa Rica. In addition, he wrote several books and more than 100 articles about insects. Dr. Cutkomp also served as president of the St. Anthony Park Association and president of the Minnesota Chapter of Gamma Sigma Delta.

Dr. Larson served with Dow AgroSciences in a number of roles within Discovery and Field Research and Development for over 28 years. He was highly recognized, both inside and outside of the company, for his passion for science and for his outreach to the scientific and local communities including his commitment to young people. His contributions included serving as President of the Entomological Society of America, Board of Directors and Counselor for the Entomological Foundation, and helping Dow AgroSciences introduce new methods for pest management that won Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Awards, given by the Environmental Protection Agency.

Our donation to the Foundation's youth educational programs, is given in the name of Charlie Fisher. An avid outdoorsman, he loved not only animals but insects as well. He was always bringing something home. At the age of 16, Charlie left us but his memory lives on. With this donation his memory in the things he loved will live on through someone else.
