Recognition Award in Urban Entomology

Consisting of $800 and an inscribed plaque, this award recognizes outstanding extension, research, and teaching contributions in urban entomology, including structural and wood-destroying pests and pests of ornamental plants, shade trees, and turf.

Rick Brandenburg is a Professor of Entomology and Co-Director of the Center for Turfgrass Environmental Research and Education at North Carolina State University. His extension and research emphasizes the development of effective management strategies for insect and mite pests of turf. His program focuses on conventional, cultural, and biological control for turfgrass insect pests, the biology and ecology of these pests, pest forecasting, and greenhouse and laboratory bioassays. He has more than 50 refereed publications and book chapters and hundreds of extension and trade journal articles.
