Thomas Say Award

Eligibility
The award is given for significant and outstanding work in the fields of insect systematics, morphology, or evolution. "Insect" is defined here to include insect allies. The recipient's work must have been published. The work must be either by a North American or focus on  New World insects and allies. Nominations may be submitted by any person. This award consists of a certificate and a cash award based on earnings from the investment.

Award Procedures
Application/Nominations must be accompanied by supporting data, arranged in the following format: (The package is not to exceed a total of 20 pages.)

   1.   Letter of nomination

   2.   Copy of the Table of Contents or title pages along with a selection
         of text pages.           

   3.   Brief description of the work by two specialists familiar with
         its subject matter (not to exceed a total of 4 pages)

   4.   Two published reviews (not to exceed a total of 4 pages) based       
         on the works submitted under #2.

   5.   Maximum of two letters of recommendation

Deadline
Application/Nomination packages must be received by the Entomological Foundation Headquarters by July 1.

Renomination
Any candidate nominated, but not selected, may be renominated no more than two times within the two-year period after his/her initial submission. Application/nomination packages will be retained for two years by the Entomological Foundation Headquarters. Applicants/nominators must send a letter of renomination to melodie@entfdn.org by the award deadline above. Previously submitted documentation will be used for the evaluation process unless the applicant/nominator submits new or updated documents. The renomination e-mail must contain this additional documentation. New or updated documents must follow the electronic submission requirements.

Notification
The Entomological Foundation Headquarters will notify all candidates and their nominators, where applicable, with the results of their application.
