Award for Excellence in Integrated Pest Management Sponsored by The Entomological Foundation and Syngenta This award recognizes and encourages outstanding contributions to applies integrated pest management in North America and the U.S. territories. The annual award consists of an inscribed plaque and an award amount that varies depending upon the interest earned from the endowment.. Integrated Pest Management Team Award Sponsored by Dow AgroSciences This annual award recognizes the successful efforts of a
team approach to pest control of any number of individuals but must
include one entomologist from the private sector and one from the public
sector. The focus of the award is teamwork and project success. The award,
which will be given to each team member, will consist of an inscribed
plaque. Recognition Award in Urban Entomology Sponsored by S.C.Johnson & Son and The Entomological Foundation This award recognizes and encourages outstanding extension, research, and teaching contributions in Urban Entomology. Urban Entomology is defined here in its broadest sense as the study of the biology and control of arthropods found in the home or surrounding landscape. This includes structural and wood-destroying pests and pests of ornamental plants, shade trees, and turf. The award consists of an inscribed plaque and an award amount that varies depending upon the interest earned from the endowment.. As applied entomology continuees to adjust and change with new developments in technology, people with exceptional leadership skills and vision will be required to address the significant challenges of establishing science-based pest management solutions. Within Dow AgroSciences, the highest distinction of leadership is represented by the VISTA Leadership Award-- a corporate recognition bestowed on individuals who have developed and mastered the key attributes of leaderships and, in so doing, have positively influenced the direction of science and industry. It is hoped that through recognition of these same leadership attributes, promising entomology graduate students will be encouraged to further their education to meet the future challenges of agriculture and urban pest management.
