Lillian
and Alex Feir Graduate Student Travel Award in Insect Physiology
Biochemistry
or Molecular Biology
last updated
March 3, 2004
The purpose of this award is to encourage graduate students working with
insects or other arthopods in the broad areas of physiology, biochemistry, and
molecular biology to affiliate with the Entomological Society of America
section B and to attend the annual ESA meeting or an International Congress of
Entomology. This award was established by Dorothy Feir, 1989 president of ESA,
as a tribute to her parents who, at considerable self-sacrifice, encouraged
education and travel experience for their daughters. Travel award is based on
earnings from the investment. Awardee will also receive a certificate.
Eligibility
All students using arthropods to study any aspect of basic or applied
physiology, biochemistry, or molecular biology in their broadest senses for
their masters' or doctoral research are eligible to apply. The student does
not have to present a paper in order to receive the award. Students from all
science departments are encouraged to apply. A student may reapply but preference will be given to a student who has not received the
award previously. The winner must be a student or full (if graduated since
applying for the award) member of the Entomological Society of America (ESA)
at the time he or she uses the award to attend a meeting. The winner will be
presented to Section B at the meeting he or she attends.
